sneaker wave gives thanks
by The Editors
We’re taking this week off from running an original story so that we can focus on saying THANK YOU. We are so grateful that your readership has allowed us to develop a digital platform for compelling nonfiction storytelling. We absolutely love getting to work with writers to bring you the most polished possible version of their stories, and we love seeing the way these different stories resonate with you!
Hear from some of our readers and industry peers:
Chicago Story Press says that sneaker wave stories “illuminate something that few people talk about.”
Dan Berne supports sneaker wave because: “We need a place where nonfiction writers can present their voice and their experiences to readers and a place where readers can find these voices. On the surface, experiences appear common, but underneath they are unique, and in the individual stories, we discover new realities.”
And one of our most recent writers said this about working with us:
“That you’re offering this level of engagement and editing with a writer’s work is truly fantastic. This type of interaction is missing from so many literary magazines and outlets… Thank you for giving writers a real editing experience!” – Amy Bee, author of “California Dreaming” and founder of In a Nutshell Storytelling
We know that this level of impassioned engagement and editorial rigor is rare in the literary magazine world—so in that spirit, we’ve got a special announcement: we’re launching our first ever digital class!
We’ll be kicking off with a ninety-minute crash course with all four of our editors. You’ll get a behind the scenes glimpse into the nuts and bolts of exactly what we look for in a typical sneaker wave story in: “The Fundamentals of Writing a Submission-Ready Story.”
You can find details and tickets via EventBrite NOW! But don’t wait; space is limited!
And this holiday season, please consider making a one-time or recurring tax-deductible gift to sneaker wave magazine via our online giving campaign with GiveLively. These donations allow us to pay our writers—and, we hope, to one day pay ourselves.
Also, we’ll be opening again for submissions in January! Polish up your best true stories and get ready to send them in, anytime between January 1st and May 15th. We can’t wait to read them.
Thank you again, as always, for reading, supporting, and submitting your true stories!
Mike, McKenzie, Angela, and Julie
